A less well known application for FlipScreen – yet one which the company is extremely proud of – is the use for clearing anti-personnel landmines, modified.
The FlipScreen De-Miner attaches to standard equipment like excavators, wheel loaders, or skid steers, transforming them into efficient de-mining machines.
Operators scoop up soil and rubble containing potential landmines into the FlipScreen’s enclosed, rotating screening bucket
The FlipScreen agitates the material within the enclosed bucket, allowing material smaller than the mesh to be isolated and enabling them to be fully removed from site.
When a mine detonates during the screening process, the FlipScreen’s enclosed design contains the blast, protecting the drives, hydraulics, and bearings from damage.
One of our national defence force clients conducted a study comparing FlipScreen to conventional flail-type demining equipment. The dealers reported back to us that FlipScreen successfully extracted all of the mines, whereas flails, while effective, tended to push mines deeper into the ground.
FlipScreen also donated one of our WL180 De-Miners to Ukraine after the conflict began in 2022. A short radio exert from the Australian Broadcasting Corporation can be found in the link here.
